Workplace LearningPhase 1 ResearchIn 2008, Service Canada funded the READ Society’s year-long project to research employer and employee workplace learning needs in BC’s Capital Region.
Phase 2 Research and Programs: Discovering Learning NeedsIn the spring of 2009, we began working on Phase 2 with funding through the Canada-British Columbia Labour Market Development Agreement. In this phase, we will be working with companies in BC’s Capital Region to analyze the basic skills training needs of their employees. Qualifying companies are those in the retail, food services, and accommodation sectors.
SkillsPlus ProjectWe are working with the Community Council to offer on-the-job skills upgrading to 40 qualifying employees in the retail/wholesale/grocery and tourism/hospitality sectors. Participation is free, and funds may be available to assist with childcare and transportation. Funding is provided through the Canada-British Columbia Labour Market Agreement. If you would like to participate, please contact our project team.
