About Aboriginal Community Learning

Our teachers travel to traditional territories, including Tsartlip, Tseycum and Tsawout, to create individualized learning programs for aboriginal youth and adults. The 12-week program addresses basic academic skills including reading, writing, mathematics, computer literacy and study skills. Lessons are created carefully to ensure they are culturally relevant.

Our teachers are professionals who are experienced in creating comfortable, supportive learning environments. They identify learning gaps and build on skills learned. Often, the learning problems that frustrate people can be resolved with individualized attention.

Program details

Part-time programs begin with an assessment to help identify learning gaps and to see what learning strategies are currently in use. An individually-tailored program is then created with a combination of individual lessons and group work. This provides chances to work independently and as part of a team.
