Supporting literacy benefits your whole community. As a registered non-profit charity, donations from individuals, service clubs and corporations are essential in helping us provide literacy programs for children, youth and adults in BC’s Capital Region. About 20 per cent of our funding comes from donations. The remainder of our funding is obtained through fees for services and successful grant proposals. All of the dollars that come from fundraising initiatives and most of the donations we receive go toward providing tuition assistance. This program is for children and youth from low-income households who need help in reading, writing or mathematics. We regularly have waiting lists, which would be reduced if we had more donations. Ten Thousand Villages partnership supports READ Society literacy work in the community.
